Karson's 1st Cold

Well, Karson caught his first cold last week. Actually, it is probably RSV, but his doctor didn't choose to run the test to confirm since there isn't anything they can really do about it anyway. His babysitter's daughter has a confirmed case of RSV, so more than likely, Karson has it too. They did put him on a nebulizer. He takes the breathing treatments really well, but I still hate having to give them to him. He's really been a trooper through it all, but his cough sounds so awful. It seems to be getting better now, but he still has the cough on and off throughout the day. Poor guy! He's been sleeping well at night, so that helps. He really is such a good baby. As of last week, he is up to 8 lbs 12 oz. He's still really small, but he's gaining, so that's good. He has a repeat echocardiogram next Thursday. Hopefully that shows that the PFO (hole in his heart) has closed completely and his descending aorta is the same as last time or a little wider. It is slightly too narrow, but they think it will correct itself by the time he turns one. Let's hope so. Justin is doing well. He did have an ear infection two weeks ago, but he seems to be better now. He spent last week in Waukon with my parents. He got to spend lots of time with his grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles & friends. Lucky boy! We missed him, but it was easier to take care of a sick baby with him in Iowa. We spent last weekend in Iowa City with my family. Corey & Nicole took Matt and I to an Iowa Hawkeye basketball game as our Christmas present. Very nice! The game started out slow, but it got exciting towards the end. Iowa didn't make a single 2-point basket in the entire first half of the game. The did manage to make 6 or 7 3-pointers and some free throws though. They ended up winning, so that was good. We stayed at the Heartland Inn, which has a pool, so Justin was thrilled. The water was freezing cold, but that didn't stop him. Mom & Dad stayed at the hotel during the game to watch Owen, Karson & Justin. We all had a great time.
